ABOUT US

History

In 2017, Coolina burst onto the scene – a brainchild of two knife-obsessed buddies, Sergey and Ilya. Back then, finding authentic, high-quality handmade knives was tough.

Store-bought knives were flimsy, and top-tier professional knives could cost an arm and two legs — if you were lucky. Not to mention how challenging it was to find something enjoyable to use.

So, they decided to create a brand that would bring traditional craftsmanship to your doorstep. They aimed to take us back to the way the knives were supposed to be - rustic, dependable, and badass without all the fuss.

Coolina has come a long way since then. It has sold over 500,000 knives and counting all over the world, and there's no stopping them.

THERE WAS NEVER A GOOD KNIFE MADE OF BAD STEEL.

— Benjamin Franklin

Timeless Steel, Superior Knives

We believe that a knife's quality lies in its steel's integrity. That's why we chose High Carbon Steel, a material known for its rich history, strength, and ability to hold a sharp edge.

It has been the choice of blacksmiths and bladesmiths for centuries. Its origins can be traced back to the iron weapons of ancient civilizations, evolving through the ages as a symbol of utility and craftsmanship.

This steel is tough yet remarkably pliable under the hands of our skilled artisans, allowing us to craft knives that are not only suited for the precise needs of gourmet chefs but also robust enough for the rugged demands of outdoor adventurers.

THE PROCESS

Forging

After cutting the steel into the blade's shape, it's heated until malleable, allowing the blacksmith to shape the blade precisely by striking one side to form an edge. This is followed by quenching: heating the steel to a high temperature and cooling it rapidly to increase the blade's hardness and durability.

Grinding

The blade is refined and smoothed. Using grinding tools, the blacksmith carefully thins the edge and polishes the surface. This process removes any imperfections and prepares the blade for sharpening.

Sharpening

The blade is honed with increasing precision on a series of stones or belts. The edge is worked until it reaches a razor-sharp finish, ensuring it performs excellently in cutting tasks.

Handling

The handling stage highlights the knife's full tang construction, a design where the blade's metal extends throughout the handle. This feature guarantees superior balance, strength, and durability. We choose premium wood for the handle, shaping them to fit comfortably in the hand while enhancing the knife's aesthetic.

Quality Control

Each knife undergoes a rigorous quality control process. It is inspected for any flaws in the blade or handle. The balance, sharpness, and overall craftsmanship are thoroughly checked to ensure that each knife meets our high standards of excellence.
