Chicken Tikka Masala Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 whole chicken 

  • 1 tsp. Kashmiri red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. ginger garlic paste
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1/4 cup fresh coriander, chopped 
  • 1 lime, squeezed
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1 tsp. turmeric powder
  • 1 cup water 
  • 4 tbsp. tomato paste
  • 1 green chili
  • 1 dry red chili
  • 1 red onion
  • 5 tbsp. sunflower oil 
  • 1/4 cup mint 
  • 1 mango 

    Spice Mix 

    • 2 tbsp. coriander seeds 
    • 1 tsp. cumin seeds
    • 4-5 garlic cloves
    • 1- inch cinnamon stick
    • 3-4 cardamoms
    • 1/2 tsp. black pepper

    Rice 

    • 1 cup rice 
    • 1 cup water

    Bread

    • 1 cup flour
    • 1/2 cup water
    • 1/2 tsp. salt
    • 2 tsp. sunflower oil

     

    Instructions 

    Rice

    1. Cook the rice according to packaging directions.

    Spice Mix

    1. Mix coriander seeds, garlic cloves, cinnamon sticks, and cardamoms in a bowl. Add cumin seeds and black pepper. Remove from the heat and let it cool down. Using a grinder, make a fine powder.
    2. Season the chicken with Kashmiri red chili powder, turmeric powder, ginger, and garlic paste, and squeeze lime all over it.
    3. Add oil to a hot pan and saute the onions with bay leaves. Add the spice mix. Add green and red chilies. Cook for a minute. Add tomato paste and cook for 1-2 minutes over medium-high heat.
    4. Add the chicken pieces to the pan. Mix. Add yogurt and water. Cook for 8 minutes. Remove the pieces.
    5. In a bowl, mix coriander and mint. Add on the chicken curry.

    To Serve

    1. Add rice, chicken, and the remaining ingredients on the round dough!
